Gold Medal for 1930s style sugar figurine

Gueule d'Amour

This small 1920s style figure was my annual competition entry at Cake International 2012 show at the Birmingham NEC earlier this month and it was awarded a Gold medal.

She's made of sugar and sits on a sugar pastillage bench.

Amy Winehouse Figurine

This was my entry at the Cake International NEC show competition last November.

Amy's head is made freehand, and although there is only a vague resemblance with the real Amy, I like that she has a beautiful face.    I had done a rough practice head a few weeks prior which resembled her more, and I have posted a picture of it right down below.

I got a Silver medal for it which I was relieved about, all things considered.  I let myself run out of time and nearly didn't take it to the competition.

Personalised Cupcakes for an actress

Here is a box of  12 pretty cupcakes I made for a beautiful actress named Jess-Luisa Flynn as a surprise on her birthday.   Hand-fashioned sugar roses and edible pictures of Jess in stage costume.

Butterfly Wedding Cake

Modern tall tiers and a swirl of butterflies and Swarowski crystals spiralling all around the cake.   A cluster of fresh roses was then placed on the board.     The cake is towering and looks like it's soaring and the swirl adds to the effect. All the credit for its design goes to Debbie Brown (see her "Wedding Cake"s book).
