Gingerbread charity sale
Below, a selection of my Christmas cookies and 4 small gingerbread house scenes auctioned today in the office, with all proceeds going to the Cardinal Hume Centre. https://twitter.com/CardinalHumeCHC Lots of work in the last few days but well worth it with an amazing £252.50 raised, and the same amount will be matched by the company. Thank you all for your generosity and Merry Christmas!

something evil's lurking in the dark
My "Thriller" silhouette wedding cake has just been featured on the renowned Cake Geek blog in their Halloween feature:
"Other Cake Stories have added a comedy Halloween twist to this classic chandelier wedding cake design – originally designed with a waltzing couple silhouetted on the bottom tier, but replaced on this design with a couple doing the “Thriller” dance from the Michael Jackson video. Guaranteed to entertain the wedding guests and look stylish at the same time. "

Why a duck
This "life size" duck cake inspired by Jemima Puddle Duck for little Olivia.
Three dimensional carved animal cakes take time and care, which makes them a more luxurious option to consider, but they have a huge wow factor and never fail to impress guests. This is a cake your little girl and guests will never forget. Jemima was entirely edible, with a head and body made of rich chocolate cake covered in white chocolate and fondant pastes. This served at least 30 hungry guests.

That'll do pig
This is an almost life-size piglet groom cake with an entirely edible head and body of rich dark chocolate Australian style mud-cake and chocolate ganache.
Little piglet here is in his birthday suit but other versions can be customised and dressed up with various guises particularly adapted to groom cakes.... policeman, fireman, punk rocker and even Elsa and Yoda. The possibilities are endless.

Spring sugar flowers
Spring sugar flower bouquet practice for a future wedding cake. Just playing around with ranunculi, hydrangeas and other flowers and foliage but this arrangement is too heavy and so it's all coming off to start again.

Mermaid cake
Today, with another mermaid query, I'm reminded of this sweet little mermaid on a rock cake I made for a little Betty's 3rd birthday last year.

Certified Cake Geek
Among all the cake blogs and websites around, one I really admire and my favourite for inspiration is Cake Geek who really stands out as the most reliable compendium of current trends in cake design. The site is a beautifully edited journal full of amazing pictures of the best work around. It's just a joy to look at and I am so flattered to see that my signature Trianon 3-tier birdcage cake below with its macaron pastel colours and miniature bunny and lamb figures has been included in their latest feature on Bunny cakes. It's a sweet and elegant cake with a French feel, perfect for a baby shower or birthday. See it with other designers' wonderful work at
The Trianon cake looks amazing in a display of lovely cupcakes, macarons, covered cookies and meringues in pastel colours and also makes a lovely romantic wedding cake when decorated with sugar flowers.
