Happy Halloween !! Puff pastry American apple pie

Very pleased with how this turned out. It's an apple pie covered in puff pastry, modelled and decorated for the theme. It was a little too scary though.

Kouglof and Madeleines

Kouglof is a specialty of my home area and this recipe was Christophe Felder's, which worked well in a Nordic tin.

Lace wedding cake

A recent wedding cake, decorated with sugar roses, peonies and piped lace and pearls.

Indian dancer figurine

My niece wanted an Indian dancer figurine topper for her birthday cake around the time of of her end of school year Bollywood dance. I'm out of practice so I made this very quickly and took it to Paris, to top a supermarket cake as I didn't have time to bake.

Bear and Zebra cakes

Here are two cakes made recently for birthdays. Both cakes are sculptures carved out of chocolate cake filled with ganache and covered in icing.  Even those little teeth and tongue are made of icing too!

Zebra cake

A zebra patterned marble cake.  Just a baking practice for fun.
Next month I'll be making the (almost) real thing, a standing Zebra cake.

Baking brioches

Taking a break from sugarcraft, here's a traditional brioche I made yesterday, based on a  recipe from Paul Hollywood's  "how to bake", (p.186).
